School visits
I taught full time in three primary schools in 12 years. I still teach, and am now a music specialist – in fact I’ve been nominated for Classic FM’s Music Teacher of the Year competition
I would just like to say that we are really happy with your plan and think you have done a great job on what is a tricky subject.

A practising teacher
As a teacher, I’m used to being in schools and talking with children. I taught across the curriculum in a primary school before going part time. I stay in touch with changes in the curriculum and with teaching practice, especially the move towards cross-curricular teaching.
I offer sessions on writing skills, including:
- How a book is created, from idea to the store. Teachers and children are always surprised by the number of people involved, and how the process works.
- Non-fiction writing: researching with books and the web and ways to present information.
- Fiction: a session where the children and I make up a story together. We look at the importance of conflict and characterisation.
I live in north Oxfordshire and can travel to schools in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.
I found this manuscript to be very engaging. The author did a wonderful job researching all those horrible facts!
